SUMMARY:National Cleanup Day & District 5 Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to make a difference in our City? Join the City of Griffin on Saturday\, September 20\, 2025 for National Cleanup Day! \nThis is one of six events in the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Community Wide Cleanup Series—a series of cleanup events\, each focusing on cleaning up the neighborhoods\, parks\, and streams within a different City district. \nThe focus of this event will be on District 5. We will be starting at Fire Station 2 (1430 Ellis Road) and cleaning in surrounding District 5 neighborhoods on September 20\, 2025 from 9am until 1pm. \nWhat are we providing? We will provide garbage bags\, gloves\, grabbers\, vests\, water\, and snacks and lunch! \nWhat should you bring/wear? Clothing you don’t mind getting dirty! Waterproof boots if you plan on adventuring in one of the streams! Bug spray\, hat\, and clothing that will protect your arms and legs. This year\, because our efforts are going to be focused on the neighborhoods across a specific district of the city and not a specific water body\, there may be some driving\, similar to Stream Cleanup. You may need to provide your own transportation to another site\, carpooling will be encouraged! The City will provide maps marking optional locations for parking throughout the district. \nHow do I learn more about the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Communitywide Cleanup events? We will be seeking volunteers for the other events which will be held on October 25 (Stream Cleanup) and November 15. Sign ups will be through Eventbrite\, so check the Griffin Gives Back Cleanup series collection page or the City of Griffin Stormwater Eventbrite page and the City of Griffin Facebook for details. We are also preparing a list of citizens who may need special assistance on their properties in an effort to connect willing community volunteers with those in need.
