DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to make a difference in our City? Join Griffin Environmental Council and the City of Griffin on Saturday\, October 25\, 2025 for the Annual Stream Cleanup! \nThe Annual Stream Clean-up is a long celebrated community event that brings together the citizens of Griffin-Spalding County to make their county a better (and cleaner!) place. This year\, the Annual Stream Cleanup is one of six events in the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Community Wide Cleanup Series—a series of cleanup events\, each focusing on cleaning up the neighborhoods\, parks\, and streams within a different City district. \nThe focus of this event will be on stream locations across the City\, but we will also address concerns across neighborhoods in District 1. We will be starting at Historic City Hall at 9am for a safety talk and sign-in. Individuals and groups that register will be assigned to a stream location or neighborhood area. After removing and disposing of trash from our local waterways and rights of way\, the volunteers will head back to Historic City Hall for lunch\, group photo\, door prizes\, and congratulations for a job well done! \nRegister by Friday\, October 17 to receive lunch and a door prize ticket! If the event has sold out before October 17\, please contact Alexa Robinson at arobinson@cityofgriffin.com. Individuals or groups registering after the event has sold out are NOT guaranteed lunch. \nWhat are we providing? We will provide garbage bags\, gloves\, grabbers\, vests\, water\, and snacks and lunch! \nWhat should you bring/wear? Clothing you don’t mind getting dirty! Waterproof boots if you plan on adventuring in one of the streams! Bug spray\, hat\, and clothing that will protect your arms and legs. \nWhat about transportation? Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to and from stream/neighborhood sites. Carpooling is encouraged! The City will provide maps marking optional locations for parking throughout the district. \nHow do I learn more about the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Communitywide Cleanup events?  \nWe will be seeking volunteers for the final event in this series which will be held on and November 15. Sign ups will be through Eventbrite\, so check the City of Griffin Stormwater Eventbrite page and the City of Griffin Facebook for details. This family friendly event captures the spirit of the season and offers something for everyone to enjoy. \nSet along Griffin’s charming\, tree-lined sidewalks\, the Fall Market\, sponsored by InGriffin\, will feature a wide variety of local vendors. From handcrafted gifts and boutique clothing to specialty foods and homegrown goods\, it is the perfect opportunity to discover unique treasures while supporting small businesses and makers. \nAs the day winds down\, the excitement continues with the 2nd Saturday Concert Series\, presented by First National Bank\, at the Park at Sixth. The music begins at 7PM with a performance by Are You Kind\, a local favorite known for their laid-back\, feel good sound. Food and drink vendors will be on site\, so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a relaxing evening of great music under the stars. \n2nd Saturday events are hosted by the City of Griffin in partnership with the Griffin Main Street Program and the Griffin Downtown Council. SUMMARY:National Cleanup Day & District 5 Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to make a difference in our City? Join the City of Griffin on Saturday\, September 20\, 2025 for National Cleanup Day! \nThis is one of six events in the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Community Wide Cleanup Series—a series of cleanup events\, each focusing on cleaning up the neighborhoods\, parks\, and streams within a different City district. \nThe focus of this event will be on District 5. We will be starting at Fire Station 2 (1430 Ellis Road) and cleaning in surrounding District 5 neighborhoods on September 20\, 2025 from 9am until 1pm. \nWhat are we providing? We will provide garbage bags\, gloves\, grabbers\, vests\, water\, and snacks and lunch! \nWhat should you bring/wear? Clothing you don’t mind getting dirty! Waterproof boots if you plan on adventuring in one of the streams! Bug spray\, hat\, and clothing that will protect your arms and legs. This year\, because our efforts are going to be focused on the neighborhoods across a specific district of the city and not a specific water body\, there may be some driving\, similar to Stream Cleanup. You may need to provide your own transportation to another site\, carpooling will be encouraged! The City will provide maps marking optional locations for parking throughout the district. \nHow do I learn more about the 2025 Griffin Gives Back Communitywide Cleanup events? We will be seeking volunteers for the other events which will be held on October 25 (Stream Cleanup) and November 15. Sign ups will be through Eventbrite\, so check the Griffin Gives Back Cleanup series collection page or the City of Griffin Stormwater Eventbrite page and the City of Griffin Facebook for details. We are also preparing a list of citizens who may need special assistance on their properties in an effort to connect willing community volunteers with those in need. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 2025-2026 school year kickoff with a community-wide Back To School Bash & FREE Cookout hosted by the City of Griffin Police Department and Griffin Fire-Rescue. \nJoin us at Raymond Head Junior Park from 5PM to 7PM for  dinner\, giveaways\, activities\, music\, and more. \nThe first 300 (elementary to high school) students will receive a backpack with school supplies\, thanks to local business sponsors and community donations. \nThose attending are encouraged to visit community partner booths for resources and free supplies. The City of Griffin Police Department’s New South Precinct and Community Center will be open for tours and registration. \nIf you are interested in donating school supplies to Griffin-Spalding Students\, plan to visit the Pack The Police Car School Supply Drive on Saturday\, July 12th\, in Downtown Griffin from 4PM to 7PM during the 2nd Saturday All American Summer Car Show or on Saturday\, July 19th\, at Wal-Mart Griffin from 10AM to 4PM. \nFor questions\, please contact Lt.
