Fall is finally here! The summer heat has passed, and the leaves are changing. It’s time to get out and enjoy the best season in the South.

Griffin + Spalding has a huge variety of activities and events this October. From ongoing outdoor events to spooky happenings, we’re ready to fill up your calendar. If you’re looking for something new, avoid the city crowds and welcome Fall in Griffin + Spalding.

Griffin + Spalding’s Special October Events

Spalding County Fair – September 24 – October 2

Don’t miss the final weekend of the Spalding County Fair! Come out to the Kiwanis Fairgrounds and enjoy carnival rides, festive food, and a petting zoo.

Scarecrows in the Garden – October 4 – 31

Visit the UGA Griffin Research and Education Garden for a walk through the scarecrows. Local businesses and organizations design and display scarecrows in this annual event.

The Great Gnome Roam – October 9

It’s a gnome scavenger hunt! Drop into ‘stache studio and create a free clay gnome before the event (check their website for business hours) – then get ready for the search. If you find a gnome on October 9, take it into the studio to glaze or paint your new garden friend. Fun and stylish!

Pickleball – October 8 – 10

October brings the Super Senior International Pickleball Association’s East Championship to Spalding County’s Wyomia Tyus Park. These tournaments are specifically for active seniors ages 50 and up. Learn more about SSIPA and register to compete here.

Cemetery Ramble – October 23

Looking for a frighteningly fun time? Spend the evening in Oak Hill Cemetery and learn the history behind some of Griffin’s most famous. Enjoy some bites and tiptoe through the tombstones on this guided tour.

Sweets and Treats in the Park – October 24

Bring your kiddos and check out some of our area’s favorite sweet treats. Head to Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park for early Halloween fun with Top It Off Funnel Cakes and Little Crumbsnatcher’s Bakery.

The Addams Family Musical Production – October 28 – 30

This creepy, kooky musical is the first full-length musical performance by the Griffin Ballet Theatre. Bring the family and laugh along with this wickedly funny show. Buy your tickets on the Griffin Ballet Theatre website.
